Well, I had that situation once. And if you want to have fun with your friends, it's okay to skip rides out. But at Cedar Point, when I didn't know that it was okay, I started with the best method there is; the small steps method. Start out with the smallest coaster in the park, and work up. Another thing is to find out why you are afraid. If it is because of the heights, do not worry. You are strapped into a vehicle that is checked daily, and you never will fall out. If it is because of speed, just have fun with it. And if it is because of loops and inversions, ignore your fear. A loop feels like you are traveling straight, while in reality you are not. Corkscrews feel like turns. Roller Coasters are meant to be fun, and if you seriously do not want to go on you, remember again, you do not have to. Hey, you could end up like me being one of the only two not going on Top Thrill Dragster. :) But I still hold my ground. And an ending tip; it's okay to scream, it lets out all of the fear and everything. Don't hold it in, you will feel terrible. Scared when you come on, excited when you come off. At the end of the day, I'm sure you will hate to leave (and will probley feel like you are still on a roller coaster). :)

I actually have the same problem, and I, too, am trying to recover. I LOVE rollercoasters, I just often find myself crippled by fear before boarding them. When I do actually get to try them, though, I have a great time. My fear branched from my first rollercoaster ride in fourth grade, on the Millennium Force. BAD choice. Anyway, if you plan on visiting a park, read up on all the rollercoasters they have there, jot down the heights (or speeds or whatever gives you the jitters), and start from the lowest, advancing to the highest. You may get so pumped, your fear will dissipate! Ride with someone you trust, such as a best friend or parent, and laugh and goof off during the first lift hill. Usually lift hills are the most terrifying part of the whole rollercoaster experience, so not being able to hear the chain clicking could calm your nerves. Good luck, and have fun!

Lol you can't overcome your fear until you confront it. Heights are something that all humans are naturally scared of because if they fall then you're dead. Roller coasters are different because you know they were built for fun and that's what you're gunna have at six flags. So suck it up for now and get on a roller coaster for once in your life.

CONFRONTATION. I used to be scared of roller coasters, probably more than you are. I guess I was scared because of all the screaming and I tried them when I was little... I didn't work out then.
When I went to an amusement park again I went on a roller coaster, and I was really scared. I convinced myself to give it one more try and went on one of the biggest rides there. It was one of the most exhilarating moments of my life.
I became hooked on roller coasters and learned you don't know if you like something until you try. So, get out there and don't be afraid, they were designed for safety and are there for thrills.

This always helps for me. As you start off, keep your eyes open for about 5 seconds when the ride starts. Then close your eyes, and take a deep breath in...make a small hole with your mouth, and let air out with a steady pace. Then open your eyes, and watch everyone else screaming, and try not to yourself, then you'll feel better, with everyone else freakin' out, and your not. That helped for me when I first went on Silver Bullet at Knotts, then Xcelerator at knotts. Then I went on Tatsu at Six Flags, then I went to Cedar Point, where they have a ride that's called the top thrill dragster, it goes 104 miles per hour, 400 foot, 90 degree hill, then a 400 foot drop at 90 degrees. But I did what I told you, and I survived!! Don't worry, you'll be fine.

OMG! So am I! Funny! Just try a small, but thrilling one. Like I don't know what its called but I went on the first kinda scary ride ever. It was wood and you sit in it with the thing that comes down on the top. And I thought it would just swing back and forth but it didn'! It went all the way around it was freakin scary! lol! But if you don't want to try it tell them you don't. Thats what I did! Well I hoped I helped! With love! ♥

You shouldn't feel pressured or anything. But if you do want to get over your fear, you have to confront it. Do anything that makes you feel better, and take your mind off of where you are and what you are doing, if you're too scared to acknowledge you're riding on a rollar coaster.

If you can start on a mild coaster and build your way up.
Sometimes though to get over it you just have to go and do it. Get on and when you need to close your eyes and scream. Everyone screams so you wont be the only one doing it. Trust me, after you do it you will want to go on more! Its a blast!
Hope you do it and have fun!
