I am 35 years old. I already have 3 children. One child has some very mild special needs and the other two are typical. Last month my period was 1 week late. I was told it could have been a very very early miscarriage. Is this a sign that my eggs are old and begining to have chromosomal variations?

i had twins at 39.....everything went fine. everyone is different and the older you get the more likely for problems but if you are healthy and take care of yourself, things are in your favor.i also had 3 older children before i got pregnant with the twins. good luck!

Any chromosomal variations have been there since before you were born and they're not rare in women of any age. As for your period being just one week late, it is possible that it was an early miscarriage it was probably just your cycle being a tad bit out of whack this month-this is entirely possible if you didn't take all of your birth control pills on the days you were supposed to.

I don't think 35 is so old! I had my son when my husband and I were both 38. We'd been married 14 years at the time! I would suggest that you see a doctor to see if you are, in fact, pregnant. Think positively! Why get yourself so upset, when things are probably fine? Good luck!

That's a question you will have to discuss with your doctor. I have a very good friend who had her first (and only) child at age 50...nothing wrong with that little girl now 5 years old. She is healthy, active and cute as can be.

if you are week late, it could mean that you are pregnant, not having a misscarriage, but after 35, your risk increases of having birth defects and misscarriages. i wouldn't worry, but you might want to visit your doctor just to make sure everything's ok.
