Sometimes detectors will activate after someone has taken a hot shower. When showering always use the overhead exhaust fan if you have one. This will help keep detectors sounding off when finish showering. You should also always use the exhaust fan over the stove if cooking. Detectors do periodically go bad and have to be replaced. If you do replace one make sure it has a battery backup as well.

I have electric smoke detectors in my home, and every once in a while they do this, my husband simply unplugs them from the hard wire for a few seconds, and replugs them up to reset and voile' no more beeping. Hope this works for you, that beeping gets darn annoying!

Turn the detector off, then turn it back on again. If the beeping won't stop, you need to replace the detector.

Time to change the battery. If you've done that and it keeps beeping, you need to throw it out and buy a new one.
