Dining in Bahamas...?

Hi There!
#1. Has anybody out there ever eaten at the Poop Deck at Sandy port? What was the atmosphere like? Did it have nice ocean views? what was your experience like?

#2. Has anybody out there eaten at the One and Only Ocean Club at the Dune? What was the atmosphere like there? What was your experience?

I am looking for a nice restuarant with a awsome view of the ocean (not the Harbor) Any Suggestions? Thank you!

In response to the Native that gave advice on both.......Do you know what some examples of prices are at the Dune? How far in advance do you recomened making dinner reservations?

Hey there, I am a resident from the Bahamas and have eaten @ both venues that were inquried upon. Both provide breath taking views of the Ocean but there is a vast difference between the both of them. The Poop Deck @ Sandy Port is much more casual type environment, providing a wide array* of Bahamian dishes. Its a place where you can take the entire family and soak up some fun. While The Dune @ Ocean Club on the other hand is a more upscale exclusive restaurant, providing culinary classics while still keeping a Bahamian theme. Of course in some cases The Dune are a bit more expensive than The Poop Deck but it is sure well worth it when you see the environment with the deck being out on the beach and there being a lilly pond with exotic fishes. The Dune provides a more romantic, personalized setting but yet still can be family oriented by having a special kids menu available. I hope this sure helps you. My advice is, eat at both...lol

Well poop deck is rather expensive but I guess it is ok. You can also try restaurants at Atlantis where you can dine and look at the underwater creatures. If you want to experience the real Bahamian atmosphere with the people and food at a really good price, then you should go to Arawak Cay commonly called "Fish Fry". Have fun.

We did not care at all for the Poop Deck, food was over-priced, service awful & the food was just okay. THe view is nice however :)
the One & Only is very nice, great food & atmosphere.
A favorite place of ours is Olde Towne Oyster Bar at Sandyport. It is NOT on the ocean, just a little marina area for water view. The restaurant is a tiny shack on a dock... cute & very rustic. Bench style seating, just a few tables... we love the crab cakes, conch chowder & peel & eat shrimp :)

the poop deck is nassau"s bahamiam seafood restaurant, they specialize in conch salad, conch chowder, cracked concch, grouper fingers and more. The view from the restaurant is breathtaking, it is surrounded by the ocean. The staff is great, and the atmosphere is so welcoming.

for the best meal in nassau...try the restaurants at the awarak cay fish fry...best lobster dish for $25 or so ...
