peoples of the world are dying because of a lack of access to many things i take for granted. also, many things i take for granted are, when spread among my individuals, the cause of those peoples suffering. why don't i (we) care?

I know how you feel. I do that too.
But thats because i've blocked out every feeling of compassion for another human being since Ive been raped.
This comes to my theory.
Has anything tragic happened to make you block out your emotions?
Or has this simply been a problem with you since who knows when?

i think it doesn't directly effect us because its not within in "our" own homes and family. It sucks and I totally understand what ur saying because sometimes i feel the same way. For example, hearing the aids/deaths due to hunger statistics...I listen to testomonies and what not and its like "gosh thats sad.."etc. I may pray about the situation to get better but usually i wake up and its another day..almost like it never happened. Yeah, Terrible, i know..but its not directly but i don't think it means that we as people don't care about the situation....maybe we need more resources as to what we can do to help or prevent such tragedies and perhaps it would make it better!

People should care.

We need to focus on the suffering of others. Thousands of kids shouldn't die from starvation of poor medical treatment in this day and age.
