Depending on your size, women with small stomachs can even have a harder stomach by 2 weeks-4wks believe it or not! Some take longer though, other women take up to 6-8wks to feel the hardness, and some takes even longer. Different from women to women.
& I don't care what the person says below me, since I have read about it and heard from women myself. Also I'm in college for nursing so I know some little things as if now!

I'll have to disagree with the girl above me.

I realized i was gaining weight, then i realized i was pregnant. I also realized that while my butt was getting fatter, my tummy wasnt getting big fast at all. I was wonderin where that baby was gonna come out of! lol. But seriously, my stomach was hard as rock about 8 weeks into my pregnancy. I noticed it felt hard, but its more of the sensation of your skin stretching is how you intepret it as hardness.
When you go into labor, its more like small bands of tightness all the way around your lower belly and back. Its almost like suddnly having to pee so bad you could burst, all at once.
Hope I havent confused you!

your stomach starts to harden almost immediately after the body knows a baby is in it.the real growth and hardening of your stomach is said to start by the 3rd or 4th month... but then again it varies from woman to woman... It also depends alot on your diet and baby's growth...

your stomach never really gets hard unless ur having contractions, or it may get hard from the way the baby is positioned like if he/she presses it feet against ur belly, head back or whatever. But I did hear that skinny girls with flat stomachs belly always seem harder, but in real life it depends on the person.

i'm 15 1/2 weeks along
my stomach still feels squishy but it is also more "hard" from my belly button down when i press hard, sometimes i think i feel where my uterus begins, since it has grown up to almost my belly button now. so it's kind of squishy and hard simultaneously.

It's different for different women but whenever there is less amniotic fluid the harder the stomach. 3rd trimester for most.

your tummy doesn't harden....its the baby and as it grows it moves further up....making it look round and firm...but the firmness you feel is the baby and fluids. if you lay on you back at 2 months you can feel that Lil hard bump at your pubic line. if you press gently....
