It scared me as a kid, I think only because I read the book first, which REALLY scared the $%#@ out of me. But now not so much, although I don't know if I could watch it alone at night.

....come to think of it maybe that's where I get my fear of clowns...WOW, thanks for the breakthrough!

I've seen it when I was 9 I think. I actually enjoyed watching horror movies at that age. I bought the dvd recently and while watching the movie it gave me a sense of nostalgia.

I have.
It was scary. I was only 8 at the time. Even now I think it's scary.
After I watched that movie as a kid, I was afraid to go too close to those holes at the side of sidewalks (I forgot the name). The one where the water goes in after it rained.
I thought that clown would stretch out his arm all of a sudden from that hole, grab me by my ankle and pull me in.
I was freaked out.

To keep from getting scared by that movie, just remember: Tim Curry is also Frank N. Furter.

I saw it when I was about 15, I think. Don't remember much of it, except for it scared the living daylights out of me. To this day, I am leery of clowns.

Oh, I guess you're not talking about the one from 1927 with Clara Bow.
