I never pay attention to the banners...I'm sure some of the top contributors are great but I don't actively seek out their questions/answers.

No, why would it? I got an orange top contributor badge way before my boyfriend did, and I couldn't have cared less! The rest of these people, except for Angel Marie, I don't even know! But, it is what they say, in the questions they ask and answer that tells me whether I like them or not. *sm*

After some of the posts I've seen by some Top Contributors, I think the only reason they reached that level is by having too much time on their hands. Some of the answers aren't even related to the questions.
However, that being said, I still generally assume that a Top Contributor would have a better answer than most. (I hope my opinion doesn't have reason to change!)

Yes, now I feel like a failure...oh hum...
Other people are just other people to me...no badge could sway me to think otherwise...it is who they are and how they answer/ask questions that sways me...
PS....I have too much time on my hands cause I am disabled. Sorry that I don't have a life or a social life...I found yahoo to reach out to others...and to finally have something to excercise my mind.....my question about the badge was just making fun of it all!!!!!!!!!! this is for calala....red

I used to have such faith in the Yahoo Answers folk!
However I've 'heard' that it's now only for people with over 10% Best Answers or more!
You'd think it'd be nice if they'd tell us!

No, because quite a few of the so-called top contributors often answers their questions foolishly like "duh" or "yea" or "no", not really giving alot of info, just running thru the web- sight answering as many questions as possible, in the shortest amount of time. I myself, look for questions I think I can answer, correctly. there are no prizes here, just information.

No, badges, points, best answers, etc do not. The only thing I do is look out for those contacts/fans of mine and star their questions, etc....

Hi. Not really. I kind of wish they did not put it on though because it gives an 'elitist' look to the whole Y!A when lots of folks did not really FEEL elitist when they answered. I do it because it's fun.
