I'm going to go with 3 hours because i have been to many games. Also I see that every three innings equals one hour, so 9 innings would tally up to three hours. Now there could be games that could be five hours with rain delays and extra innings. Also games could be less if there is solid starting pitching on the mound who just retire the side 1,2,3.

Games go a bit quicker than they did a few years ago, but the average game still is roughly 3 hours long. It is hard to give a definite time on a game, because a lot of it is going to depend on how the game is played. If the final score is 1-0 and there are only a few hits/walks in the game, than it will last closer to 2.5 hours. However, if the final score is 15-10 and there are multiple people on base every inning than a game could last 4 hours.
The safe assumption is 3 hours.

Like others have said, most games last about 2.5 to 3 hours. But time of the game depends on nature of what's going on in the game.
If the ballgame is a low scoring pitchers duel going into the late innings, the game will go by pretty fast as the pitchings coaches are less likely to make trips to the mound every other inning. If pitching is in control it means batters are making quicker outs, there are fewer hits and walks, and the innings are generally going by pretty quick.
If it's a high scoring ballgame those games take longer because of all the hits and runs being produced between outs, frequent mound-visits and calls to the bullpen, etc.
The time of game depends largely on how the flow of the game is going.

The average is something like 2 hours, 47 minutes or something, but it largely depends on the game. Ive been to games where you have a fast working pitcher mowing down hitters (game lasted a little over an hour and a half) to a high-scoring, lots of pitchers used slugfest (can push up to and over 3 hours)

It depends on the game---I saw a Phillies game that lasted 8 or nine hours cause it was tied. I think in a normal game, though, like you're asking, it lasts anywhere from 1 hr. and 45 mins. to three hrs. depending on what's happening. If it's a pitcher's duel, in other words, both pitchers are striking out a lot of players, the game goes fast. If the hitters are going crazy getting on base and scoring a lot, then the game can last a lot longer. Like say, the team bats around--all nine players get to hit in one inning, the game lasts longer than when the pitcher gets three outs in a row.

I think the simplest and best answer is to just go by the general rule of thumb of 3 hours. Television allows a 3 hour time frame for broadcasts of baseball as well as most other sporting events. Figure on that

Usually 2.5 to 3 hours, unless it's a pitchers duel.
