Im looking to share ideas about starting a website about the current and future state of the nation. Everything about politics and such should be on there. I would prefer the younger generation help with this because we are what is going to make up the future of the USA but, any tips or suggestions about what I/we could add to the site is appreciated.

My, what an original idea!

Sorry, didn't mean that as a putdown. It's just that thousands of sites do that, and probably hundreds even have that youth focus.

But okay, some positive ideas. First, think of your new site as a window -- one among many on the "state of the nation" wall. Even with that youth focus, what will viewers see through your window? Lots to choose from: foreign policy, health care, education, environmental issues, the military, housing, poverty, crime, technology, football -- not even counting how the political parties differ on those issues. Maybe the site could start with a narrower focus, yet plan eventually to cover more and more ground. Maybe it should cover, say, just the southern U.S.

The site deserves a sound marketing approach. So spend lots of time checking out the "competition" -- all those other sites. What will your site do differently, better? Will you pick friends to moderate the different sections?

What kind of click numbers do you want, and when? Gonna have ads to make it sustainable? Specifically...? What search engine keywords will bring your site to the top? How else can the site be promoted? Finally, you should have some way to evaluate the site. You won't want to look after it forever, so might as well imagine an exit strategy up front.

Lots to think about....
