I'm a model railroad geek !
One can start with a simple oval track.
Find a local RR club and visit them... see what you enjoy. There are two parts to RRing... the operations and the scenery.
Then go hog-wild and build your own RR !! I have one in my bedroom.

Try coin collecting. There are strong elements of art, history and economics. There are many ways you can collect coins. Such as one of each type or a date series of just one type of coin or you could pick a topical subject like world coins with instruments on them. The choice is purely up to you.
You can also meet some interesting people by going to coin shows and joining a coin club.

building computers is fun. buying the cases buying all of the parts piece by piece, but you gotta know what you're doing. for example if you buy a socket 478 motherboard and bought a LGA 775 Processor then you would be screwed. another fun hobby is building model airplanes and then flying them. there's tons of things to do. Pirating software lol that's fun.
