Both are normal. When I first started getting my period, it was brown... eventually it became more red as I got older. So, don't worry... it's totally normal either way. And... this is going to sound really gross, so I'm sorry, but don't be freaked out if you see some small slimy chunks too. Yep. Disgusting. But normal.

It can be both but it is generally red in the middle of you period when it is flowing heavier.
It can be brown at the very start and also at the end of your period this is very normal. Good luck

Your menstral blood will turn brown when it has been in your body for a while. If you are having light periods it may take a while to flush out of your body. Nothing to worry about. When you are flowing heavy it will be bright red.

You are fine mine is brown sometimes when it first starts just wait it out it can last from 3 to 7 days

that happened to me too! like the first 2 times i got my period it came out brown... but then like the 3rd month i started to get it red... so its normal. and it usually lasts like 3-6 days

well when i get my period, it is brownish and yea. it should probably last for about a week but if u just started it may be a bit longer. and after it goes away, it might come back a long while later or a very short later.
congrats on finally getting ur period and becoming a WOMEN!!!

It can be brown, red, or both. This doesn't sound out of the ordinary to me. Medications might affect this.

Mine was brown the first time I got it! I just kept changing my underwear......denial I guess. Eventually it turned red.

in the beginning, it's gonna be brown. That's old blood coming out. It will be regular, just wait it out.

At the beginning it does seem brown.
Just don't worry. Will get red and OK over time.
