It's all a matter of what animal you think better suits your wants and needs in a pet. In short cats are fairly independant, but you can't really train them much and some cats can have a rather feisty attitude. That might be something to keep in mind if you have young children. However some cats can also be extremely affectionate and playful.
Dogs on the other hand are very loyal and sociable creatures most of whom crave attention. If there's any drawlbacks it's that some dogs love to bark loud and often. However dogs are easy to train, and there are lots of different breeds. Basically you can choose a dog with that will grow to have a personality which suits your living situation well.

Well...I would say it depends on what kind of person you are. You have to know that dogs are social and you can't leave them at home for a day or two. I personally am a dog person. Cats for me are too distant for my personality. Though I don't mind them around. Animals are still animals, all worth of attention and care. :) Any animal you are going to own is going to bring something more to your life.

i'm a lover of both, it depends on what your needs are... cats are cute and they look for affection.....dogs can also give affection but you have to remember you have to take a dog for a walk to exercise..make sure you get them spayed if you don't want a litter.
