First, turn on all your appliances and lights in your home and then turn off your switch and then walk around to see what the switch turns off. If you cannot identify it, it may be something like a gas furnace vent or a fan. If you are not good with electronics and multi-meters, you may want to get an electrician in to find where this is going because something, like a fan, may be draining your power unnecessarily.

Usually there is a switch by the front door to turn on the light when you come into a house. The other switch as you stated turns on the outside light. On the ceiling, is there a place with a junction box cover where an overhead fixture might have been? This would seem the most likely thing to me.
If your house is in a development and there are other houses similar to it in the neighborhood, check with one of the neighbors and see if they have a similar arrangement and what the other switch does. I would almost bet they removed the overhead fixture.

There may be an outlet outside, too.
(And then there's that commercial where the guy is flipping a switch in the house and they can't find what it does and the garage door keeps going up and down on the neighbor's car...)

It may only control 1/2 of an outlet, usually the upper, for a table lamp. Try both halves of the outlet with a lamp.

It's usually the entry light. If not one of the outlets may be switched.

Check top and bottom of each receptacle in room. It is possible that one of your receptacles is split. Top or bottom is switched for a lamp when coming into the house and the other continuous (maybe for a clock radio?).

Oh it's one of those you might never figure it out, every house has one or two, my parent's house and mine does also.
Yup, at least one, sometimes two, every house has this.
