If he stays healthy it will come down to him, johan santana, and Roy Haliday. Remember that Rich was undefeated (4-0 w/ good era and a few no decisions). He will be good, but unfortunatly Haliday may win because his offense will give him the most wins, which are an ovverated stat (as opposed to ERA and walks and hits per innings pitched). Almost always, the most wins and best finish determine it. Thats why Huddy didn't get the CY he deserved with oakland.
P.S. I love the A's. wooo lets go oaklnd and frisco sucks
PPS When I gave harden's stats, I neglected to say that was last year before the injury. He also did ok in the ALCS, though the team lost the game.

I've been hollering that line for two years now! Rich Harden is definitely one of the best pitchers in the league! He has some filthy stuff and I know he could become a Cy Young award winner if he stays healthy the whole season. Johan is always a threat but then again, the A's have a strong team this year and that's what will make Harden a better candidate for the Cy Young Award in 2007.

i don't think he will but if he was in the NL he would have a better chance. Johan Santana has just been dominating for the past two years. I really don't see Santana stumbling unless he gets hurt by an injury. Also theres just to many good pitchers in the american league. Matsuzaka for Boston has looked amazing in his starts. In 10 innings he has not gotten hit yet. I would like to see Harden winning it but there is too much competition in the american league.

If Harden stays healthy, I want to see a 3-man race for the award, and I don't care which one of these 3 wins.
Harden
Matsuzaka
Santana

No, I don't think he will. Spring training numbers are irrelevant to performance in the regular season. Johan Santana will win the award.

I doubt it. There is a guy named Johan Santana still in the American League.
Harden could be top 3 in the voting if he is healthy. It could be a big if. Unfortunately I see him heading down the Mark Prior path.

He might just be that good, but theres this guy named Santana on the Twins....Also, King Felix of the M's might mature quickly enough to challenge for the honors. But Santana is the frontrunner right now.

I dont think so... Spring numbers can be a little bit misleading sometimes... you have to remember, not all starters play every game so sometimes they are pitching to 3-5 guys that will be back ups or into the minors...

Yes, that would be neat. A's rule no matter who they lose each off-season. Now if we can just get them back into a World Series.
