If you consider your job as something you have to do to make money (i.e., earn a living), then job satisfaction (as defined by social scientists) would most likely not be achieved. However, if you regard your job as something you really enjoy doing then job satisfaction could be effected. Any of these reasons can make you enjoy your job and would ultimately lead to job satisfaction:
1. the job is challenging and it affords you to keep on learning
2. the job is related to your academic training
3. the job has room for advancement both in the pay scale & personal development
4. the job is tailor-made for the career path you have outlined for yourself
5. etc., etc., etc.
Can any kind of job give a person real satisfaction in life? YES. A person can define his own satisfaction level and so if he's cool with whatever he's doing and is resigned to doing the same stuff for the rest of working life, then we can say that he has reached his satisfaction level.
Am I satisfied with my job? 100% YES (past tense - am not working anymore)

Yes. I am satisfied with my job (maintenance tech). To me there is a lot of satisfaction in fixing things and fabricating things. About 98% of the time I go home feeling good about the day. Especially on pay day.

A job is what you make of it, It doesn't matter if you are a janitor, a clerk, a ditch digger, or a Doctor. It is all in your head, if you are going to be happy.
If you want Job satisfaction, do the BEST job you can do every day, be cheerful, try to find efficiencies to do the job better, look for more responsibilities, Get YOUR ATTITUDE in the right place and you will love your job.

Yes, I am tremendously satisfied in my career. As a financial consultant, I set the hours, and provide a valuable service to my clients that can help them increase their net worth. I essentially get to spend my day talking to people and helping them.
