Tolerance isnt necc a good thing. If you are tolerant of hate is that good? Europe tolerated and pacified Hitler into a point where it escalated into a world war.
Sometimes you have to take a stand on things. Your examples are those of extremists. Someone can not agree with the act of homosexuality but still treat gay people with respect. Judging people solely on race is not ok, but people are so politically correct nowadays that if you make a generalization that might be grounded in some truth you are blasted as intolerant.
Be careful how you use and elevate words. Tolerance isnt always good and discrimination isnt always bad. Everyone in here discriminated today when they chose what to wear or who to have lunch with.
We should be very intolerant of a great many things these days like terrorism.

I never said I was homophobic, or that homosexuality is a mental disorder. I am nice to gays and treat them with respect. Do I agree with what they are doing? Heck no, but that doesn't mean that I can't treat them with respect. Get used to the "intolerance." It used to be a lot worse. Open up a history book.

I never said homosexuality was a mental disorder.I do,however, believe that it is wrong, and in these days,if someone says that, they are branded as homophobic-when you are obviously not 'phobic' of anything.Does believing fornication is wrong make you 'fornicationaphobic' ? Does believing adultery is wrong make you an 'adulteraphobic'?
Of course, nobody should be insulted, harassed,or harmed. We all need to treat each other with respect.

Because we have such a big mess that killed, wounded thousands of our troops, damaged our image abroad and yet, we still have no way to get rid of the basters.
We can devote so much energy, time, money, and effort in Clinton's sex life and White Water investment, but can not do anything to the crime so open for so long in our country.
Strange indeed.

really, overall I think people are better now than ever before... it's always been a problem... and as with all problems... they don't disappear overnight... they gradually get better...
I think we're getting there... there will always be pockets of intolerance though, as people always want to look for someone to blame things on...

These days? It only seems that way because the technological advances in electronic communication give us more access to more opinions and more information.

Objective moralists (Christians, Islamic terrorists, KKK, neo-nazis) need something to hate with an irrational fervor to make themselves seem better by default. Their philosophies are based on fairy tales and bullsh*t propaganda. Its either their way or the highway and nothing short of of a gun to their heads will make them change their minds. One can only wait for them to die and hope their children aren't nearly as stupid.
These objective moralists have no value and no place in civilized society.

i totally know how you feel. it's really sad when you see some of the things that people write on Yahoo Answers. i just ignore those who make stupid statements or ask stupid questions. i figure most do it to get a rise out of others. kinda makes you feel sorry for them that they go around with so much hate and negativity inside of themselves.

i completley agree with u.. people nowadays must put labels on people for everything. Just cause something is "out of common society's place..(Circa 1923) then its wrong. Who cares if someone is gay. Contrary to their belief...life goes on,lol
