Ive been told completely different and conflicting things by different drs. Also its a much better idea to give your OB a call or call your regular practitioner and ask them rather than take any meds suggested online. That being said there are lots of non-medical ways to help with a cold. Try taking a steamy bath if you have chest congestion. Staying hydrated will help your body as it deals with any viruses. Also your mother was right about chicken soup, there's scientific evidence validating the use of this home remedy. But most importantly consult your physician as they can give you the best advice for you and your baby. Feel better *tissues*

I have recently gone through the same thing! I am currently 9 weeks preggo and it was a couple of weeks ago i was that sick i couldn't get out of bed for over a week. You will get better but you just have to be careful as to what you take. You can have those lemsip drinks and certain cough lollies but you should always cheque with your doctor before taking anything! I also took some panadole to get rid of my fever. As for the breathing issue i cant tell you that is from being sick because i have been very short of breath for a while now. Just take it easy and go see your doctor.
Good Luck and congrats!

I found that if you boil a LOT of water during the day it helps to take the congestion away. Also, try putting some lemon halvs in the water once or twice a day. Some of the shower soothers are non medicated, I've never tried them but have heard they work well. Also, if your nose is stuffy try the nasel strips, they work really well. Don't forget to change the water before it boils away, and use 2 pans. If you put cold water into a hot pan it can warp it. :-)

It might not be a cold, I havent been able to breath right since i got pregnant, and I am 22 weeks. It is common to have cold like symptoms while you are pregnant. Dont worry about it, take your time when you are walking or short of breath, and try not to take anything for it. It is not good for the baby. Good Luck

a lot of women experience cold like symptoms during pregnancy.
you have to confer with doctor as far as remedies
the difficult breathing might be do to asthma brought on by the pregnancy
this will normally leave after the baby is born

Same thing happened to me. You can take Sudifed and be perfectly fine. My doc and pharmasist said Sudifed is OK to take and will clear your congestion. Just get the plain old little red pills... Walmart brand also works, it's the same stuff, just cheaper. Good luck!
