I've had great luck refilling my Lexmark. After about five/maybe six refills I would get a new cartridge because the contacts would wear out from going back and forth so much. A $20 refill kit would be good for around six refills. The cartridges were $42 bucks apiece, so I would say it was worth it.

After the first couple of refills, I got the drill down pat and it was easy. You need to clean the heads and the feeder rollers a lot, but a q - tip and the refill cleaner work just fine.

Unfortunately I tried to make the black cartridge last longer than I should have, it wore through and the black ink seeped out into the printer and shorted it out.

That was a good Lexmark printer/scanner, too, they don't make that model anymore. I wish they still did, because there were so many things I could fix on it myself. But it was 7 years old and I guess it was time.

I always get my ink cartridges refilled. I go to a place called cartridge world and it takes about 15 minutes and only costs like $10, a pretty good deal compared to what they normally cost. It has never hurt my printer.
