It goes like this, I'm using IE7 and when I open the browser.. Say to look up something in google, I'm minding my own buisness but all of a sudden a window pops up telling me my virus software has expired (It hasen't) or some other ad and this happens on lots of different websites thats why I think it's on my hard drive. I've done virus scan scans with lavasoft ad-aware and I have a firewall and a popup blockerand I'm usually very carful on the internet. Please Help I don't want to reformat my hard drive but... it's getting more frequent and more annoying. By the way I'm using XP SP2 MCE 2005 also I keep getting warnings from my virus program telling me that "A Virus Has Been Detected" even when I'm not actually using my computer

You have some adware. Here's how you get rid of it.
1st, don't waste your time with AVG, spybot, ad aware, CA, spyhunter, or anything of the sort. Stay away from anything that is FREE when it comes to spyware and antivirus. There is a reason why they free. They are NOT good.
2nd, You need some of the best software out there. Norton Systemworks is very good. That's the only good software from Norton. I wouldn't recommend Norton Internet security, its not that great. Now the best software you should get is Spysweeper with Anti-virus, this software is too good and gets better everyday. This is elite software. It blocks over 171,900 threats. No other software can compete with that or come close for that matter. It catches everything. I've used them all and it is 2nd to none.
3rd, after you install and update the software, since its in your system you will have to turn off system restore and then go into safe mode and run the scan and eliminate the virus. then after removal, reboot and turn system restore back on.
4th, (Optional) I recommend a Firewall from Zone Alarm, their free version is so good. Or you can buy their Pro version, but the free version will do more than the job.
5th, any probs during or after you do all this, send me an e-mail.

In IE7 tools. check POP up blocker.
It is a good idea to have another browser , in your computer , even if you are addicted to IE
You can use FireFox Browser also and avoid these POP ups.
You can always switch to IE from FF with IEtab add-on.
Try also this program AWC2Personal from

enable 'popup blocking' on your browser, and google, and yahoo engines.
also EVERYBODY should do this: in browser 'tools'>internet options>privacy>advanced (here you check allow cookies from the originating site & allow session cookies boxes AND check 'block third party cookies'
