Depends on the field... in general, though, you might start off as a lab assistant with an associate degree. Many technical jobs require at least a B.S. or even M.A.
Research internships; many employers will hire undergrads for a summer, or at least provide some on-the-job training with a minimal salary. It's an opportunity for employer and employee to get to know each other.

it depends on the degree and where you are trying to get a job, usually to advance in most places you need to have the BA or BS.
