It's a good idea to talk to your neighbors first but also a good idea to make sure your friends don't get carried away to begin with. Respect your parents home , they've worked hard for it. : )

Do your parents know you're throwing a party in their absence? What kind of friends do you have (do they respect and listen to you or will they ignore you when you say it's time to leave or when you tell them to turn down the music or to stop doing something bad)? Are there kids who will probably crash the party who will bring an element you do not want there? That's what's going to determine whether you should throw a party (and who's providing food and drinks? If you or your friends are not, they're going to raid your parents' pantry and cabinets). Find out from the police what the mandatory quiet hours are--some places it's earlier than others (up to a certain hours, a certain amount of loudest music is permissible; after that legal hour, you have to not disturb your neighbors or they can call the cops on you). Definitely let your neighbors know you are having a party but some might drop by to check on things periodically (so be aware and prepared)--and it's a good chance your parents are going to find out if you haven't already told them. But that doesn't mean you can play your music loud (and loud is as per your neighbors, not you or your friends) just because you told them--you still have to observe the quiet hours. Does your community have a curfew--something else you'll have to observe. Your friends are going to have to make sure they don't park in the neighbors' spaces or on their property. Your friends can't take the party outside. You're friends are also going to have to help with clean up, make sure no one gets sick in the house, no one does anything bad. Move everything that is breakable into someplace that you can lock (and put the key somewhere where you can find it later where no one else will find it). Make sure pets are somewhere safe. Make sure your friends understand your rules and are prepared to end hte party on time without a fuss, etc. Otherwise, you *** will be grass. If you allow your friends to smoke inside, will that be ok (smoke gets into carpets, drapes, sofa fabrice, etc., plus dropped cinders can burn the carpet adn floors, sometimes even start fires). If you have a septic system, can it handle a lot of usage? Figure out beforehand what you would do if the town rowdies or baddies show up and start to cause trouble so you can put that plan into action if it happens without having to figure it out on the spot. What will you do if someone drinks too much and passes out (or worse)? What will you do if they break the tv or do some other mischief? Figure it all out before the party so you can make arrangements.

Don't blast your stereos too loud. Be quiet after 12am, or else..you'll in deep sh*t.
Have FUN!!!
