My friend thinks she may have just had a miscarriage earlier today because she had a positive hpt but hasn't gotten to the doctor yet. She just took the test 2 days ago. If she goes to the hospital to get checked out and it turns out she did have a miscarrage or is having one, will Medicaid cover the procedures or whatever she may need? She only works part-time and can't afford a medical bill.

Yes it's still pregnancy related. My medicaid paid for the ER visit, the pills I took instead of a DNC, and also covered pain meds.

Is she currently recieving Medicaid. What state does she live in. It might depend on that states particular Medicaid guidelines.
I worked in Medicaid for 5 years and the way it worked in NJ is that pregnant women were covered by Medicaid for 60 days post delivery. So I'm sure that Medicaid would cover that as well. I haven't worked in the Medicaid Department for over a year, so I'm not sure if the guidelines have changed since then, since they are ever changing. If Medicaid for some reason doesn't not cover it, or she is not currently receiving it she can apply for Charity Care through the hospital which would cover hospital bills only. Or she could contact her case worker and ask them directly what it would cover. Good Luck.

only if she already HAS medicaid. You can't get medicaid to pay for existing debt.
