It was quite an accomplishment when Einstein conceived of the idea of spacetime, that space and time are woven together into one fabric. I suppose at the center of a black hole, at the singularity, the arrow of time is no longer definable -- it is either an infinity or zero, neither one of which is a very satisfying answer or makes much sense.
Time, without our minds to mark its passage, will nevertheless pass, but will be meaningless. Time can be defined as a series of events from one moment to the next, even if there is nobody to observe or record them. A dust grain in deep interstellar space is illuminated by starlight as it randomly turns on its axis. That alone can define time, since the dust grain is illuminated differently as it presents different aspects of its shape towards the light source.
You are probably wondering where I'm going with all of this, so I will try to get to my point: In the physical universe we live in, in our three dimensions plus time, for something to have a meaning, a location, an existence, we need four elements to describe it. We need to physically pinpoint in 3 dimensions WHERE it is. If that thing is on Earth (it doesn't have to be), we need to know its longitude, its latitude, and its height above or below the ground. But we also need to know one more thing. We need to know WHEN it is. It may be there now, it may not have been there yesterday, and it may not be there tomorrow. So, while it is possible to speak of space without referring to what time it is, it is not possible to actually be in space without being in time, because in order to describe where you are in space, one also has to describe when you, or anything else, exists.
That's the best way I can describe it. Hope that wasn't too confusing.

Space and time are already separate, and have always been so.
Look at any clock that is running... See the hand moving?
That is not time, that is a representation of the passage of time as we have agreed to define it amongst ourselves.
Space is a volume of something, such as a room full of air,
or a tank full of fuel, or a block of solid steel, or an area where there is a void. It has nothing to do with the passage of time.
It exists now, and probably will still exist in the next ten minutes. The fact that some volumes of space may be empty is irrelevant. For purposes of conversation and description to others we usually put dimensions on space. That is so we can all turn and face (look at) the same area or location. right? That description has nothing attached to it regarding time.

No, and they are also linked with velocity by the famous formula :
s =vt (space = velocity x time)
v =s/t (velocity = space over time)
t = s/v (time = space over velocity)
They are inseparable.
If everything should stay still, there would be no time.
That's why everything in the Universe is constantly moving and evolving.
It would disappear, otherwise!

Space is a *natural* feature of our universe. Time isn't. Time is a concept sentient beings like us have invented. Among other uses, it can measure how long it takes to move from one point in space to another. If there was no one anywhere to employ the concept of time, space and locations within it would still exist.

you may no longer have one without the different. it could be resembling putting you on a small island interior the direction of the sea and taking each and all the boats away. you have your freedom yet freedom to do what, precisely? and not utilising a ship, your freedom is so limited in scope as to be non-existent. in case then you definitely ought to place self belief in the persons who administration the boats. they'll dictate once you may pass away and the place you're allowed to pass as nicely by way of fact the situations below which you workout your freedom and to what quantity. besides the undeniable fact that, in case you administration your guy or woman boat, the worldwide is at your disposal. So, we see that freedom without the potential to workout it rather is distinctly valueless. yet another analogy could be an 18 300 and sixty 5 days outdated who merely have been given out of highschool. He has the comparable quantity of freedom as I, a fifty 5 300 and sixty 5 days outdated guy has. besides the undeniable fact that, he has no wealth yet. If he desires tochronic a clean vehicle, he won't be able to. I do. If he needs to own a house he won't be able to. I do. If he needs to make a journey to Spain he won't be able to. i'm able to. Why? by way of fact I even have the potential the funds to realize this and he would not. He has a protracted thank you to pass in the previous he can appreciate the comparable point of freedom that I do. This explains why Welfare is an insidious crime against humanity. It no longer in ordinary terms saps the supplies of those, like me to fund it, it additionally dooms people who get carry of it to what quantities to a place of dependency no longer plenty above that of a serf. you will proceed to exist yet you will no longer prosper. in case you're working for a living even on the backside fee you may continuously develop your station in life by way of no longer consumer-friendly artwork, dedication, solid judgements and making your self greater helpful as an worker. for people who artwork there is often an risk for progression and the opportunity of attaining your goals. For those on welfare, they're on the poverty point now and could be continuously. they're subsequently stripped of their freedom and exact to stay as self protecting adults. “we are able to stay clean of certainty, yet we won't be able to stay clean of the end results of evading certainty” Ayn Rand *

Well, if we are to talk about time as the mathematically required dimension that encompasses all other dimensions then I would think you could not (or at least wouldn't want to ;) ). Without the extra freedom time gives us we'd be as good as portraits.

Yes and no.
According to theory, they are already separate, and interchangeable, also.
However, with today's technology, no, time is immutible - we're stuck just traveling forward.
