I am a teacher (well technically I am a Teachers Assistant but I teach more than assist). I got started by going back to work part time and the local library. I worked my way from shelving books to being an Adult Reference Assistant. I was still working part time and my son was older so I started doing some substitute teaching. At the library, I worked mostly nights and weekends and after 5 years I was getting tired of it. At that same time, I got offered a full time position at my son's school and have been there 3 years. I love it and I am near my son (for better or worse some days). We go the same hours and I don't have child care issues. What do I want to do??? Easy, run off and marry Johnny Depp.... ;)

WOrking mom here--one son, age 13. I have worked since before and continually after he was born. Currently I am the Chief People Officer for a large employer (15,000-20,000 employees). I got started as a secretary (cliche, but true) in that I graduated from college at the age of 19 with a bachelors degree in psychology; with no work experience and so young, no one would hire me in a professional role, but I could type like the dickens! So I got a job as a secty in an HR dept and literally worked my way up from entry level to an EVP title, direct report to CEO, and member of exec team. What do I want to do? hold on for the next 6 to 7 years to get my son into college, and then retire in my mid 50s when my husband is mid 60s.....this is (I hope/believe) my final corporate job working for a big machine.
Next career opportunity is scaled back, smaller, more intimate, and less M-F,less 9-6, more PT, more flexible....

I don't have a 9-5 corp job. However, I work from home so that I am able to stay with my children, be my own boss, and make as little or as much money as I want.
My plans are to be able to take more vacations and build my own house and be there for my children every moment of every day. My biggest goal is to never work and make money for someone else ever again.
If you are looking for an unbelievable venture that will change not only your life but the ones around you, let me know.

I worked full time outside the home after i had my first daughter I started selling Mary Kay. I had no intentions of selling it just wanted the discount and found it easy and fun. I didn't know what i wanted to do I did know I wanted to be able to be home but need to bring in an income. I found Mary Kay to be so much more then selling make-up. It has changed my life. I have made great friends and provide an income for my family.

I work for a company that sells computer and electronic components. I handle shipping, receiving, allocating, record keeping and expediting for one of the largest accounts that we have. I started at the company as a receptionist. What I want to do is be independently wealthy and travel.
