I just love Melinda, and Jordin is ok, although I think she sucked tonight. But I'm wondering if they will lose out to Haley just because they are chubby and Haley is such pretty eye candy. Melinda's voice beats Haley by miles, but the sad reality is pretty people make it farther in life than fat people. And I'm a fat people so I know.

I haven't managed to catch as much of this series as i would like so i will base my answer on my own moral thinking. Melinda has a fantastic voice from what i have seen and heard and if there is any justice in this competition she will not be overlooked just because of her size.
As you say Serena, the reality today is that those with a pretty look tend to come out on top. But this does depend on whose reality we are looking at it from. The lady in my life is of a larger build and has been and still is very successful, and extremely intelligent. And in my eyes forever beautiful. So there will always be hope for everyone and even in a society where there seems to be an ignorance and a bias, i still hope for a day when talent and a desire to want to achieve success is applauded in all walks of life.......not just on our tv screens. Good luck to Melinda.
And Serena, i am sure you have made an impact on many peoples lives and that there is a beauty within you that everyone can see.

Don't refer to your favourite girl as the chubby girl, refer to her as The Next American Idol! If you are chubby yourself then why even put the question out there. Its not about weight its about singing. If Melinda is comfortable with herself and the audience sees that then it no longer is an issue. This contest is about singing talent and she has definitely got that.
Above you stated that Hailey was "Pretty" and Melinda is "chubby" and to me that's like oranges and apples. Is Melinda also not "pretty" now because her body type is bigger than Hailey's?
Do you have low self esteem because of your body type? Look in the mirror and tell yourself that you are beautiful too!
If you know how it feels then STOP judging! Leave that for Randy, Paula and Simon!

Its funny that you asked this, I just finished watching american idol, and I was telling my wife that Melinda had no chance what so ever (because she is fat), dont get me wrong, I dont agree with the fact that a big person cant win, all Im saying is people are less likely to vote for the fat person, I wouldnt, and to be honest I dont know why, I guess its because when I think of the "american Idol", my mind sees this total package, and an obese woman doesnt fit this image, now Ive gone and made it seems like a fat hater, well Im not, accually I am probably considered fat myself, one more reason I wont go on american idol, well that and I cant sing.

I think that Melinda, Lakeisha have a great chance on idol. If it was about their weight they would have been kicked off the show a long time ago. And they are not chubby they are healthy. What about Ruben Studdard? He is a big boy and he won Idol. Unfortunately, when it comes to being on tv looks do make a big difference but hopefully on American Idol talent makes a difference to.

Melinda has a good chance of winning. Don't forget Lakisha as well. I honestly don't think Jordin chose the best song this week. Not the best performance.

If they can sing their little hearts out, then they will make it quite a while. I think that (no matter how many times the judges reiterate this) it starts out being a popularity and looks competition, and the ones that are chubby gotta be good in order to stick around. ie: LaKisha, Chris Sligh, Melida, Jordin. etc. They are great singers and deserve to have made it this far.

YES!!! the bigger girls are the best singers !!!!
I know Hayley is cute but she doesn't come close to being near as good a singer as Melinda,Lakesha.or Jordin.....
and I am a skinny people....LOL lol â« â¥

I think people will vote for Melinda, Jordin, and Lakisha because they are just such good singers. And all of them carry their weight well.

I think girls who are overweight have it much harder on idol, because the American dream girl is a little heavier than an olsen twin but I really doubt Lakisha Jones is going ANYWHERE and she is the biggest one on there. Her voice will most likely carry her to the finals, and she doesn't even have a winning personality.
