Fashions were bell bottom jeans, madras pattern shirts, long hair for guys, "shag" haircuts for girls, "ra-ra's" which are black and white shoes.

There were the Black Panthers which was a radical black group, men were coming back from Vietnam War, muscle cars were in style then and they were powerful fast cars.

Songs Ventura Highway-America
Maggie Mae-Rod Stewart
Alice Cooper-School's Out

Railroad Dave is absolutely correct. Much cannibus, or marijuana, was consumed. I remember going to concerts and people were passing joints around like crazy. Some as big as bananas.

Check the two websites below as they're very very good telling about the 70's. I went to high school 1965-69 and college 1969-1973

The 70's was the best for the muscle cars..........oh yes, that and some awesome tunes. However, there was also disco, which was good for some, evil for others. Fashion was pitiful, men and women dressed badly. Polyester suits, with white belts and shoes for the guys......... ugh. What could be worst than that.

You could list the leaders of our country during that decade.
Bellbottom jeans, and polyester were all the rage as far as fashion goes.
Disco and Michael Jackson were the music choices of the decade.
Try googling 1970's and see what else you can come up with.

The war in Viet Nam ended. Jimmy Carter, The President, tried to persuade Americans it was important to conserve energy because, according to him, the world supply of oil had greatly dwindled. Laws were passed to force the American auto makers to design fuel efficient engines, and other ways of conserving energy were thought up and applied by decision makers.
