yes that its normal. it wil be liek that for a week or more.. have you learned abotu the sea salt soaks? you shoudl avoid harsh soas and use a mild antibacterial soap.. but the sea salt soaks are the best things for your ear. i empty out a 16oz whater bottle and fill it with distilled water. and put in 2, 1/4 teaspoons of non iodized salt (seal salt) and pour out howver much i need. warm it up and stick my ear in a bowl or a cup for 15 minutes at a time once a day. this will help aid in healing, fight any pending infections and draw out the lymph (discharge)
but it is 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt for every 8 oz of water.
they also soothe the piercing and eas the pain .but it will be swollen. what you can do it a sea salt soak later tongiht and take some imbuprofen to help wiht the sweling
but it is normal and its not infected! do those sea salt soaks! they feel amazing! =D
it sonly 4 days old. of course it going to hurt. cartilage piercings can take up to a year to heal. sypmtoms ofo an infected piercing is excessive sweling, pain, green or yellow-green discharge)
but doign the sea salt soaks will greatly minimize your risk of infection

Not normal and time for the Dr. Seriously, its infected and I've seen some severe mutilations of the ear from piercing. You can't cure it by just removing the hoop. You need antibiotics NOW. Especially if the ear is hot to the touch. Good Luck to you. Don't wait ok? The ear is hard to heal once it gets out of hand. LOL FYI: I have my tregis done and unless its an industrial (which the hoop says its not) get it checked!

You shouldn't clean it with soap. Soap isn't enough to properly disninfect piercings. Obviously it is infected. I suggest going back to the place you got it done (hopefully it was a professional place - a tattoo parlor) and get some guidance on a cleaning product. If you got it done by a friend or did it yourself, see a doctor. I don't suggest taking it out. It will be extremely painful and hard to put back in. Don't take it out unless an expert advises so to let the hole grow back.

Yes that is very normal for it to be swollen and red i mean you just got it done 4 days ago just keep cleaning it everyday and it should heal itself over time.

ouch! i say you should take it off!! it's not going to heal , it's only gonna get worse believe me! wait a couple of weeks till it gets better then pierce it again or try the other ear..and next time try using a gold earring...or a really good surgical steel earring......don't use just any kind of metal...its obvious your body is rejecting that metal...just take it off...i don't think it will heal easily...good luck though. :)

it is, for now.
but if it persists, you might want to go get it checked.
just try to not touch it so much because that will irritate your skin.
keep the moving minimal. like only move and touch it, when you have to clean it.
