How can I convince my parents to get a cell phone?

I really want one. And i kinda need one too. They always tell me, "Just use your friend's!" Or, "When you can afford it, you can get one." But I do need one when I stay after school and everyone has left. I'm also always talking to my friends on my home phone, and my parents always nag me to get me off so they can use it. Please help!

Convincing them will be hard. As a parent I can tell you a cell phone can b expensive. Your parents probably tell you no because they either can't afford it or don't think you would be able to stay under the mins and texts that a cell phone allows without being charging extra. An idea since you don't work is maybe suggest a prepaid fone. You can get one thru cingular that has free unlimited nights and weekends. They would go for that before a cell phone that consisted of a contract. You can offer to do things around the house or if your 16 Get a part time job and buy a pre paid cell phone yourself. Prepaid or not their not cheap but it would be a better idea. Just don't over push the idea that will only close off your parents to the idea.

Get good grades, and do all your chores plus more. Babysit for nieghbors too, you can give your parents the money and be like 'here, i tried my hardest' and if you really did, they might soften up.

Start doing more chores around the house! When they see how responsible u r they might get you one!!

Or by doing those chores u might raise enough money to get one!!
