i'm a 15 year old girl, that likes to read, but i'm really picky about the books i like. i like books that have a girl as the main character, are contemporary (not historical), i always judge a book by the cover, so it can't be ugly, i tend to like books that take place in NY or CA and i love when the girl falls in love (but not like th romance novels that are all weird and strange...if that makes sense) and i'm leaving for spring break thurs so i'm looking for some more cause i don't have many to bring, so could you give me a lot of suggestions????

*some books i liked were hollywood hills, bras and broomsticks (and frogs and french kisses) , the au pairs, the a-list, all american girl, just to name a few

thanks!

Twilight and New Moon by Meyer. It's got a girl as the main character, the covers are beautiful, and the girl falls in love. True, she falls in love with a vampire, and the books have werewolves in them too, but they're not traditional werewolf and vampire books. They are truly marvelous love stories between a teenage girl and her vampire love, and what they go through to be together. I highly recommend them.

If you like vampire books I would reccomend the Undead and Unappreciated, Undead and Unemployed and the rest of the books in the series. The lady dies and wakes up in a morgue and finds out that she is a vampire. Then she becomes the Queen vampire and that is what the books are about. In vampire law she is married but she doesn't want to be because Sinclair ( who she's married to) didn't ask her to marry him so she fights with not liking him. They are great and don't have a lot of romance (like romance novels) and they take place in MN near the Mall of America and her weakness is designer shoes. they are great even if they don't take place in NY or CA.

"Forever" By Judy Blume is an excellent book that meets all of your criteria. It's about a girl who falls in love, and thinks she might be pregnant, and has all of your typical adolescent issues. I also loved the Book "Go Ask Alice" YOU WILL TOO!!!! I know that you like female main characters, however, you should DEFINITELY read "Catcher in the Rye" by JD Salinger (My all time favorite book) It's about a kid named Holden Caulfield who finds himself kicked out of school again, and ends up having his own little adventure in NY City before having to go home to his disappointed parents. Good luck, and have fun on break.

Most of Francesca Lia Block's books take place in Los Angeles or New York, have female protagonists, and beautiful covers. I would recommend Weetzie Bat and its sequels (which you can buy all bound together under the name Dangerous Angels). They're awesome as are all her other books.
Meg Cabot's Princess Diaries books are also good, and they take place in New York.

if you loved all-american girl (like i did) then you would enjoy many other of meg cabot's books, because she is my favorite author. tangerine is another interesting book, as well as many of roald dahl's books, which are fun, humorous quick-reads. the Uglies series, which include Uglies, Pretties, and Specials are pretty good. Define "normal" is an amazing book, and Holes, which you've probably already read, the series of unfortuneate events books, the harry potter series, and the magician's nephew, the first of C.S.Lewis' chronicles of narnia series, which happens to be my favorite. "i am the messenger" is a good book, different, but i liked it, and also the sisterhood of the traveling pants series. that should get you started!!!

I came across: "A Series of Unfortunate Events" By: Lemony Snicket.
Those books are great! I read all 13 of them. They are really great.

Jennifer Weiner (seriously that is her last name) is a awesome author. The movie that came out with Cameron Diaz---In Her Shoes----is based off a book written by her. I fell in love with her writing on my first novel. \
