To travel from Igoumenitsa to downtown Athens you can only travel by bus, and will last 7-hrs at a cost of about 33-Euros.

From Patras to Athens the chipest fare is by train and will cost you 5.30 Euros. The trip will take 4.15' hours.
If you choose to travel by bus will cost 12.25 Euros and will take 3 hours.
Have a nice trip

Patras to Athens:
you can go by car ,by bus or by train.
the time you need if you choose bus is about 2,5 hours,by train is about 3.5-4 hours.I don't know exactly the fares but both are not expensive,of course train is cheaper!
As it concerns Igoumenitsa to Athens:There is only bus that makes that route (or plane by Ioannina which is about one hour far from Igoumenitsa and then 40 minutes to Athens by plane with Olympic or Aegean airlines).
I guess you don't want to fly so your only choise is the bus.It is about 7 hours far from Athens. It is exhausting all that trip but it has a lot of nice places to see.
As I can understand you come to Greece via Italy by boat.If you just want to go in Athens you should choose Patras,it is closer enough.
