There is no way to know what is causing this, but I get the feeling that when you turn the A/C on, it causes a problem because of the extra load that is being put on the engine. It may be that the vehicle needs an ignition tune up and engine decarbonization because fuel trim numbers are too high, which will not affect performance, yet, or any other number of possibilities. I do not recommend the free AutoZone check out thing, though, because you cannot make a diagnosis from a code, especially someone who is a parts person and not a professional technician. I would think that a professional who owns a shop would know better than to suggest this. Also, they may erase information that a real technician may need to track the problem down. I do agree with him about not throwing parts at it, but again, the diagnosis CANNOT be made from the code alone. You can find a shop, certified in the top 3-4% of the nation by checking ASE.com and looking for a Blue Seal facility. Hope this helps you out.

I had the same problem in my 1995 Corolla. I was told it was just a bad sensor, nothing to worry about as long as your temperature gauge is staying steady.

i own a repair shop and you need to take this by auto zone and have them scan it for you ,its free, and this will probably tell you exactly whats causing this to happen,id say its a 0-2 sensor ,but I'm guessing, have them scan it and you,ll know for sure, please don't start buying parts from what other people say it is until you know,to many people are now realizing this can get really expensive to do,good luck i hope this helps.
