I'm quite curious. Because when people come out of jail, especially gangsters like Akon, they are thugs and act like big macho tough guys. But Akon sings lovey dovey pop songs and even though some of his songs have sketch lyrics, the music he puts them with is not actually very manly. Don't be mad, I still like his songs, but why did he go to jail?

Aliaune Thiam aka Akon, went to jail because he was convicted of grand theft auto (of his own car) and other crimes like, drug distribution, because he was in a gang called the baldwin posse. He also sold drugs and other substances.

he was accused of stealing a car. you can hear the story in his song "locked up", altho in it he says that the car was his and they accused him of stealing his own car. anyways he was in jail for maybe 2 years.
