They're still the Cubs.

Nope. Nobody is saying they are gonna win the whole thing. Nobody is saying their pitching is superb. Yes, they added Alfonso Soriano which helps their offense greatly. They added Marquis to the pitching staff which gives them a more solid arm. And they changed to a new coach. But as far as overrated, where do you see that? Alot of people still have the Cardinals to win and some have the Cubs having a better record with a shot at the playoffs, but nobody is saying they are World Series champs? They are big spenders if anything, but overrated, hardly.

The Cubs are going to surprise a lot of people this year. Their lineup is built like a AL team and while their pitching isint the greatest starting 5 in the league, they are more than good enough to win a lot of games.

Zambrano and Lilly will both do what they usually do, especially Lilly moving from a high powered AL east to a weak NL central. Another Wild card is Rich Hill, if he can perform like he did at the end of last year, the cubs will have at least 1 potential cy young runner and 2 quality arms. Of course there is Prior and Miller, if they can stay healthy both (especially Prior) can put up good numbers

the lineup if they stay healthy has the potential to put up big numbers, there are 3 guys who very well could hit 40 home runs a piece this year (soriano, Ramriez and Lee). Look for Barrett and Jones to add a good 45 home runs to that total. The Cubs will also benefit from a CF with power, viable number 2's in the line up and a decent 2nd baseman

No more Dusty Baker Running Neifi Perez out there everyday

Its not like any team in the Central including the cards are that scary, 83 wins isint going to win this year

I don't think they're overrated. I just read in this one magazine and they have them rated fourth in the division behind Cards, Brewers, and Astros. I think they improved their team greatly. To me they have a chance at winning as long as they don't get injured. The Cubs don't have to rely on Prior and Wood being healthy of the pickups in the offseason, which is a good thing. They do have starting rotation problems but if Hill can start the year off as good as he did at the end of last season the cubs do have a solid two starters. To me their underrated because to be ranked under the Brewers who lost a huge bat of Carlos Lee and also injury problems of Ben
Sheets. The Cubs are being underrated by all means. Cubs lineup is solid with Soriano hitting first with either Izturis or DeRosa hitthing second, then with power Derrek Lee and Aramis who has 6 dingers in spring will bring in a lot of runs this season. Also if Barrett can stay healthy he is one of the better hitting catcher. He hit 16 HRs in just 375 at bats. Look at the Cubs winning the central and maybe just maybe the injury plague does not hit the Cubs this year.

Not with sweet Lou as the skipper. He's a very good manager and a better motivator than Dusty Baker and Felipe Alou. Unfortunately, the Cubs have to deal with some arm problems, but I think they're a stronger team this year than last year. Not strong enough to beat the Cardinals in a seven-game series, but we'll see what happens.

I don't think they are over rated. The owner has made a commitment to win NOW. He is buying players who will get the job done and providing most stay healthy, Cubs will have much to cheer about come October.

Definitely not overrated. They got some good players in the off-season but they are still plagued with pitching problems (and this will be a big challange this year).

I will be happy if they play .500 ball

They are and always have been the most over-rated team in baseball. They believe they are a real major league baseball team.
They haven't been able to win because some old Greek walked a goat around the park some 60+ years ago, or they lost in the playoffs in 2003 because a fan reached for a foul ball.
Then they are marketed by management as the lovable losers.
Give me a #@&*%#@ break. oh aren't they just adorable
