I have been offered a spot with both the Collen Cler Agency in Burbank and the Daniel Hoff Agency in LA. They are both SAG franchised and I've heard that they are both "great". How do I know which one is better?

Congratulations! From whom do you hear they are "great"? If it is from other actors they represent, then you probably can't lose with either.

The best thing would be if you could talk with a few others of their clients who have similar qualities and experience as you. Are they getting auditions? Does there agent return their calls?

Just as in hiring someone to build you a house, you want to get references from satisfied customers.

Break a leg!

It sounds like you've done some good research, and both agencies are good, maybe even equally good.

I assume, since both have made you an offer of representation, you have met with them in person. Did you meet with the person who will be acting as your agent? Or with someone else, who will pass you on to someone at the agency to rep you?

There is a delicate balance here - you don't want to seem high maintenance and a pest, but there are legitimate questions you should ask.

Have I met with MY agent?

Did I get a good vibe from them?
(It is more important than you know to be with someone you are comfortable with)

Ask them "What is your plan for marketing me? How should we approach getting my career kicked off?"

These are professional questions that demonstrate you are serious about your career - go with the agency that gives you the most satifactory answers.

Check out their websites. Talk to the employees, have meetings with the bosses. Which ever one fits your life style. MAybe you want flexability or awesome benefits. Do a little home work and follow your instinct. Good luck.

See if you can talk to some of their clients, and ask if they'd let you free-lance with them for a period of time before signing. It's great to have such good representation.

Congrats!

Tell them both that the other has offered to represent you. Ask them why they are better than the other.
