i know that if he is balding on the back of his head, it may be from rubbing it on the mattress, but my 2 month old is only balding above his ears..and he is not pulling his hairs out.

It might be his newborn hair falling out. A lot of children lose the hair they were born with and new stuff grows in. Mine did a little of both, so he had really long and really short hair in different places and looked like he had some bald spots. Don't worry though, it'll grow in soon.

Don't worry Momma, it will grow out again. It sounds like it's just his baby hair falling out which is completely normal. If you look closely there are probably other areas on his head where hair is falling out just not as noticable as the spots above his ears. Both my children had *gulp* mullets because although they didn't loose much hair, the hair on the base of their heads didn't fall out. Keep doing a great job in lying him on his back to sleep and be sure to kiss that baby fine hair when it grows back in. It's so soft and cute!

He probably turns his head to the side when he sleeps, rubbing the hair off like most babies do in the back.

Yes,

His fine baby hair is just rubbing off on the pressure points where he is laid on the mattress to sleep. I guess you are putting him to sleep on his side? We were told to put our babies to sleep on their side in case of vomiting (but who knows what this month's idea will be! lol
Anyway, this will only be temporary, so don't stress about it.

he's rubbing it off- that is totally normal. My son had a mohawk for the first full year because of this.

Same thing, it's from where his head rubs.
