I'm in 6th grade too (12), and yes, I have started shaving since last year. If you have dark hair and plan on wearing skirts and shorts alot, then you really should shave.
Do you have an older sister or something? You could ask for rasors from her, and she'll give you some. If you don't, don't be scared to ask your mom. She'll totally understand, and all you have to do is tell her that you have gorrilla legs and it is imperative that it is fixed.
It'd probably act as some kind of joke. And if you REALLY can't talk to your mom, then go to Wal-Mart and get a bag of disposable rasors. Hide it under all the junk at the check out line, so your parents will buy it for you, and they'll never notice (unless they're really weird and read the reciept).
If you're afraid of getting caught, you could spare a few bucks to buy it yourself.

If you want to shave - go for it! Don't be scared to ask your mom. I remember I was embarrased too. But once you get it over with it's really not that bad. Just take a deep breath and tell yourself its now or never! Shaving isn't very embarrasing compared to some things like bras or tampons. I started shaving in 6th grade too. Plus, right after you shave your legs feel so smooth and silky! When you buy a razor you might want to buy shaving cream or gel too- your less likely to nick yourself and its easier to see where you already shaved.

Okay, first of all, you need to know that girls - at any age - do not NEED to shave. It is very sexist how everyone is made to think that girls are "supposed to" shave and do a lot of other things simply to appear attractive. Society has got it all wrong - hair grows naturally on our legs - why must only girls shave it off in order to look good to others? I don't see guys doing it, either! Nobody should have to do anything to themselves to feel attractive - it is shallow and fake. True beauty is found on the inside.
You should talk to your mom about this. I'm sure she will understand. I wasn't allowed to start shaving until I was in 7th grade, but then a few years later I realized that it was pointless to do so. You just have to accept your body the way it is naturally and don't try to change it to gain the acceptance of others!
It is hard, though, to not want to shave...I understand why you want to when all of the other girls around you are doing it - the pressure can be overwhelming. But you just have to be your own person and try to feel confident and proud of who you are.
If you think you are mature enough to start shaving, you should feel mature enough to talk to your mom about it. She knows more than you think and once you get it out in the open that this is how you feel, I'm sure she will be very comforting. If she ends up not allowing you to shave, that's okay too! But I'm sure that if you ask her, she'll be fine with it...you're getting older.
It is your choice, but be careful in the decisions you make. Don't do anything you'll regret doing later. It is very important for you to be open and honest with your mom so you two can form a strong and trusting relationship and you grow older. And always remember that you never have to wear certain clothes, put on makeup, or shave your legs and armpits to please others. Society may think having hair on your body is gross, but if it's so disgusting, why is it so okay for guys to have hair, you know?
Stay strong!

The first thing you need to do is talk to your mom and get her opinion on this matter. I was your age when I wanted to start shaving my legs as well. I was also afraid of cutting myself, so my mother and I went to the store and bought Nair, it worked just as good if not better than a razor and the results lasted alot longer, another plus with the hair removal creams is no danger in cutting yourself with a razor. Good luck.

I also have very dark hair and very hairy legs. I started begging my mom to let me shave my legs at age10. At that time we had to wear dresses to school and I got laughed at because I had such hairy legs. My mom refused to let me, so one day I just got a razor and shaved. She was mad at me, but the kids at school stopped picking on me.
Talk to your mom and convince her that you need to do this. You might try Nair or some other method of hair removal before trying shaving. Epilators are nice but VERY painful to use.
