Gotta be Jaques LeMaire. This guy still finds a way to play the trap. Pretty boring hockey but is it ever effective. Minny has to be a darkhorse because of him.

I have to agree with your assessment of Jacques Lemaire and the Minnesota Wild for this season. They don't have one specific player lighting up the scoreboard, but they still find a way to win games. Someone also mentioned Nashville and Barry Trotz, which is another great pick. Nashville also doesn't have one specific player lighting it up, but yet they still get it done every night. One name that I will throw in for argument's sake is Paul Maurice in Toronto. I think that he might get some consideration if the Leafs can make the playoffs. However, if they cannot make the playoffs, then Maurice will probably not get any consideration for Coach of the Year. The other guy I would throw into the mix, therefore, is Alain Vigneault. Even though it is Roberto Luongo is the real reason why Vancouver could win their division, Vigneault will likely get some attention in this category because of leading a team that was out of the playoffs last year to the division title the next. However, in that top 3, I would likely choose Barry Trotz because he is likely leading Nashville to the best record in the league this year.

A tie between LeMaire and Ruff. Both have produced very good numbers this year...and LeMaire kept Minnesota in the thick of things even without Gaborik. And now Ruff is keeping Buffalo on top with what was 6 injured starters...now down to 4.

The Jack Adams award is typically awarded to the Coach who gets the "most" out of the "least", someone who takes a team that doesn't look like it has that much talent into the Playoffs.
Sure sounds like Lemaire ought to win it --- and rightfully so.
Barry Trotz would be a good second pick.

Totally agree. LeMaire came to mind when I saw your question. He turned Minny into a contender.

Bob Hartley.
LeMaire is good but he has more skilled players to work with than Hartley does in Atlanta.
Barry Trotz would be 2nd best.
Best ever Scotty Bowman.

By far it has to be Scotty Bowman, look at all the stanley cups he has won with 4 different teams. He has the most wins ever and one of the best playoff records as well. He was also tough but fair. â¥

alain vigneaut.. the turn-around he did in vancouver is amazing, he truly is a great coach.
watch a game, and look at the continuous good decisions he makes.
funny thing is vigneault actually took over the job as head coach of Winnipeg's (my city) Manitoba Moose of the AHL, who are the farm team of the Canucks, from Anahiem Ducks coach Randy Carlyle.

Lindy Ruff. Hands down. He won it last year and wont this year, but should. He had 9 players injured at a point(inc. Drury,Briere,Maxim,+Tallinder) and we are still wounded. tied for top in the NHL. it's gotta be 'im
