What do you think America would be like today if the "present day liberal thinking" had prevailed during the Revolutionary War with England? Is it true that the majority of the people over here were against the war on England?

I'm talking about how liberals feel that war is never the answer and why they think mob rule should exist in our Republic.

Thank all the stupid liberals for not getting the "present day thinking" part of the questions. I did not know your party has not changed over hundreds of years and that your ideology has not swayed.

The Tories were conservatives who wanted to remain loyal to King George. The liberals started and fought the Revolution. So, in fact, liberal thinking prevailed. The ideas that they implemented after the Revolution i.e., democracy by the people, no aristocracy, the Bill of Rights, etc were considered radical in relation to the times. Liberals have always supported just and necessary wars including the Civil War and WW II.

Your question misses a couple of crucial points first off it wasn't liberals who were against the revolutionary war but conservatives wanting to maintain the status quo much like today's Conservatives, the war was thought of and started by LIBERAL thinkers, and while a faction of today's liberals are purely anti-war they are in the minority of liberals, most liberals supported the invasion of Afghanistan but not Iraq, we can go on and on about why one was the "right" war and the other not but that's a secondary point, liberals are the voice of progressive change, of equality, and of fairness, not some cliche spewed from the mouths of idiots like Limbaugh or Savage

Actually, if you read history carefully you will find that the men who constructed the new union were very liberal for their day. Jefferson, Franklin etc were men on the cutting edge of liberal thought, going against centuries of tradition i.e. the divine right of kings, the absolute patrimony of Europe etc. What is happening in the US now is not so much about the war as it is about one individual trying to usurp powers that were intended to be divided and shared. As to those of us who don't believe that war is the answer, I certainly hope that after thousands of years and hundreds of wars where lands were raped and innocent people killed, we have learned that there is a better way to settle international conflict. Peace upon you.

The people who were FOR the revolution WERE LIBERALS. I had ancestors in the Revolution and they had support by people who the British thought were for them or neutral. Stories were passed down about some of the personal things. For example the British would come by and demand food from a farmer and were told there wasn't any. Having hidden the food in cellars they had enough for themselves and at least some of the American revolutionaries.

U know, i'd have to say, if it weren't for the liberals, u and I wouldnt be here today, i.e. in the land called America!!
its liberals who wanted the Revolution, not the conservatives, the conservatives wanted to stay under British rule.

Libs don't feel war is never the answer. What a ridiculous proposition. Why dont you research who wanted to stay isolated from Europe during WWII. Bonehead.
Remember when the GOP was fighting Clinton tooth and nail on Bosnia? A civil war? Why was that wrong? But STARTING a civil war in Iraq is ok?

slightly too generalized for my flavor. i be attentive to a great form of conservatives that are particularly smitten by their very own ideals that they experience and a great form of Liberals that think of by way of each and every state of affairs, yet in an relatively distinctive way than the conservatives. regrettably politics has grow to be extra of a private battleground of morals and private ideals, than on actual matters. what's interior the suitable interest of the country or human beings in touch interior the matters, relatively than the politicians telling us what's suitable based upon their very own ideals or that for the time of their occasion. Our founding fathers might must be ill on the seen what our u . s . a .'s political technique has grow to be. Sorry, slightly better than what you asked for, besides the undeniable fact that it mandatory to be mentioned.

Well, we had slaves then, women were 140 years away from voting, people were still bled for illnesses, so it was clearly a different world. What is today, is not comparable with the world 240 years ago.

You'll have to define "present day liberal thinking" before anyone can honestly answer that question. The reason is that your definition is probably not my definition. Revolution is pretty liberal, you know.
