I have never heard of that before..how will your child have nightmares? baby cant see the tv yet!
The only thing I could think of when it comes to pregnancy and scary movies would be your stress and anxiety level. Just be sure you dont give yourself a heart attack!

I watched the same kind of TV and movies while I was pregnant as I did when I wasn't -- action and violence didn't scare me and I don't see how the baby would have been scared while I was calm. He is almost 2 now and is a fearless, happy child. Too fearless sometimes! hehehe
The only exception was shows where children got hurt or scared or kidnapped, or a woman having a miscarriage or dying while pregnant. That had never bothered me any more than anything else in the past, but while I was pregnant I just couldn't handle it.
I would say to just think about the subject matter before you start watching. If you think it will bother you, don't watch it. If it starts to bother you while you're watching it, walk away. It might be a hassle to have to walk out of a movie you paid for, but you're pregnant. People forgive you anything while you're pregnant. ;)
Congratulations, and good luck!

Don't believe eveything people tell you, I seriously doubt watching a scary movie will have any effect on an unborn baby. They can't see what is actually going on so them getting nightmares is unlikely. I watched those type of movies while pregnant and there is nothing wrong with my baby.

Well I sure hope not.. cause I have watched numerous scary movies while pregnant with this child. I think that is an old wives tale or something. I am sure our children will be fine.

You listen to too many people. Fear is an emotion, a feeling. Have you asked a doctor or nurse?
