Just walk away...

So he'll never hear you cry...

Or see the tears in your eyes...

.....or....

Just walk away...

So he'll never hear you say...

I'll be missing you everyday

......or both....

not really. They're all cliches, they don't really say anything about what you're really feeling. It's stuff that's been said before. Not to be mean, but being truthful.

See, a cliche is something that people have said so many times that it's worn out. "I slept like a log," "I ate like a horse," and things like that. These things used to be funny and interesting a long time ago but people have said them so much that they mean nothing. People just say them when they can't think of anything else to say.

So, really, if you think about it, how many songs have you heard that say "just walk away so he'll never see the tears in your eyes," or other songs where the girl wants to say "I'll be missing you every day as you walk away?" I bet if you think about it, you've heard that a lot of times before.

If you want to be a great songwriter, you have to look really deeply into yourself and reach the roots, and write them in words you've never heard before.

You can't just listen to songs on the top 40. Top 40 songs are, to be honest, not good songs. They're written by people who don't care about music. They only want to make a lot of money by putting a bunch of cliches together for lyrics and then adding some catchy music on top. Haven't you ever noticed that a lot of top 40 songs sound exactly alike?

If you want to be a songwriter - a really good one - you have to start listening to things like Lucinda Williams, Bob Dylan, Richard Thompson, Nanci Griffith, a lot of people you've probably never heard of. These are people who have captured the human condition in music and words that aren't cliches. They may not be popular because the big record companies don't want art; they want stuff that sells. But real music, real lyrics, real art, have nothing to do with the top 40.

I know this is hard stuff to hear. I am not putting you down. I really think you're great for wanting to write songs. But I know you can do better. You can dig down into yourself and really come up with something even better than this.

There ya go, that's all I gotta say. Good luck.

sure, it is approximately the evil of guy. except, i enormously doubt that the satan had some thing to do with the demise of jesus, the one hundred years battle, the russian revolution, the blitzkrieg in global battle two, both kennedy assassinations, or the humans killed at the hippie path. so it have to all had been guy's doing. it is a cool historical past lesson even though.

I guess it just depends on how you sing them, but they are pretty words. Why not use both of them?
