In Captain America #25, Captain America is assassinated. I presume that the series will discontinue. I'm sure whoever has been collecting the series from #1 to #25 might happy at the huge increase in value of their collection. Meanwhile, others presume he will be back anyway just like when they supposedly killed Superman.

I'm not too concerned. Captain America has been killed many times during his fictional lifetime in the Marvel universe.

# 1964 - dies in an explosion caused by Baron Zemo - later revealed to have been plunged into a state of suspended animation after falling into cold water.
# 1969 - murdered by HYDRA. In the following issue, Steve Rogers admits to having faked his death so he could retire peacefully. He becomes Captain America again several issues later.
# 1978 - murdered by Korvac, who then ressurrects him (on the next page) to prove his power.
# 1984 - killed during the events of Secret Wars. Resurrected in the following issue.
# 1989 - After being forced to give up the mantle of Captain America by the US government, Steve Rogers eventually reclaims the title from his replacement, John Walker, who is killed during thse events and later ressurrected from the dead to become US Agent.
# 1992 - assinated by The Punisher and given a state funeral. Later revealed that his death was faked for the Punisher's benefit.
# 1996 - Captain America's supersoldier serum degrades and causes irrepairable cellular damage. The damage is repaired by the Red Skull, though not until after Captain America dies.
# 1996 - killed by Onslaught. Eventually revealed to have been transported to a 'pocket universe' and returns to normal Marvel universe continuity.
# 2002 - beaten to death by Nazi soldiers living out their retirement in New Jersey. Several months later, Captain America reappears in Marvel continuity without explanation.
# 2003 - killed by Thanos. Adam Warlock manipulates reality so that events are prevented from ever happening.
# 2005 - killed alongside Wolverine at the hands of Thor in an alternate future that is later prevented from happening by the actions of Thor's son.
# 2005 - is shot to death when a civilian, disgruntled with his treatment at the hands of the Falcon, fires a bullet which richochets and hits Captain America. In the next issue, it is revealed that the person who pronounced him dead was merely incorrect.

I'll bet a dollar they bring Captain America back

bout time isn't he like 90 years old. I can believe in a man who can create webs from his hands, but not a 90 year old with a six pack.

Part of me is bummed but part of me realizes this is the comics, and he will be back in some way eventually.

Superheroes shouldn't be killed. Tey should just have them retire to Fiji or something like that.
