The question isn't whether we're going to destroy the earth, that's pretty hard. The question is whether we're going to make it impossible for the vast majority of our population to live on it... that's pretty easy. I've heard it said that if we pushed the history of the earth into a 24 hour period, life would start about 4 a.m., dinosaurs would appear about 10 p.m., and humans would come in at 11:58 p.m. -We have been here for a very short time- and it's not that difficult for us to kill ourselves in the process. We're not destined to be here for eternity...

Yes, I really do. I watch a great deal of Discovery and Geographic channel, if only people really knew how much we are ruining our environment. By the time this century is over, most of our animal species will be extinct to the point that our mountains lions and bears will be gone....
All it takes is a little bit of education and a normal household can reduce their c2o release to the Ozone per year.
Florescent light bulbs are a start and to communicate this to others.
The other thing that should also be known and told is that our people that are close to the water lands will be under water in 100 years, so if your family is planning to move to South Florida, tell them they shouldn't because their children and their children's children will suffer the consequence when the glaciers melt and our waters are going to rise 100s of feet or even thousands in some parts of the world ....

There is no doubt that man has drastically affected the climate throughout and the ecology throughout this world, the only one discovered so far with the ingredients to sustain life.

polluted rivers. polluted air. zone depletion. co2 drastically rising. forrests throughout pristine areas being cut down by the acres every day.

The industrialized nations of the world are continuing to destroy the ecology and unless steps are drastically taken, by 2100 or possibly sooner, life will drastically change for most people of the world, and change for the worse.

Don't forget that the earth would be warming even if there were no humans. We may be accelerating the process but humans are one of the minor contributors to climate change.

Incidentally, polar bears seem to have survived previous warm periods.

Do I believe we're destroying Earth's climate? No. That isn't even meaningful. I think what you meant to say is 'changing Earth's climate', in which case, yes I do.

Yes, and it makes me very sad too. All that we may lose if we do not change quickly. Another believer is Al Gore... no, I'm not endorsing him for president... but he made a highly informative documentary about global warming. In case you haven't heard of it, it's called "An Inconvinient Truth" and it's available in most video rental stores.
