Been married to a long haul driver for 10yrs. Takes a lot of patience, hard work and trust on both sides.
Its not easy and it takes two very strong people to make it work.
We have found that communication of all kinds is the key.
You maybe out on the road doing the job, but the wife is at home holding it together and making sure things dont fall down all around you. There are going to be fights( I can gaurentee that), but if you both can look at yourself and each other at the end of a long haul, and like what you see.........its worth it.

Hello
My father is an over the road driver, and it can get rough sometimes. I know that he wants his rest after working 16 hour days for a week. But as a son who has not seen his dad for a week, usually I want to spend some time with him on the weekends. Most of the time he gets home late saturday and has to hit the road sunday night. It seems as though he does not value his time with us, but he really is very tired. My only advice is to value what little time you have with your family, and make the most of it.

i own a shop and i don't see why not,i used to be gone a lot doing wrecker calls ,and never had any problems from it,it takes trust from both sides to make any thing work out,if you don't have that ,then you don't have a good marriage, good luck hope this helps.

Absolutely. But you better have a good woman. My uncle did it for over 30 years without a problem at home.

it all depends on the kind of marriage you have.. if its one with enough trust and dedication to each other it wont matter.
if you dont have that, then it probably wont work out even if you are home all the time.
