no, royalties are paid by the movie studios.

I think that Blockbuster has a revenue sharing deal with the studios to enable them to obtain a large number of copies of new releases.

no i work at blockbuster and this i how it works...

we order a specific number of movies from our distribution. for instance, we just ordered 80 copys of the pusuit of happyness. we payd 18.63 for each movie. a portion of our 18 dollars goes to the studios, but each amount of money we make on it after then is ours.
