Probably because telnet is an insecure method of connecting to a server and they've disabled the telnet servers on all of their machines.

Check out and use a ssh client like putty instead. It's far superior than any telnet program ever hoped to be and... it's secure and FREE!

Well I dont know what servers you are attempting to access with telnet but I know that most internet servers these days turned telnet access OFF a long time ago as a security measure. SSH has nearly replaced all telnet activity.

Unless you know for a fact the server you are attempting to telnet into has not "trapped" all telnet access like we have, dont use telnet use SSH, or you will get a nasty note from your own ISP about attempted unauthorized access.

I get a report from our systems every morning tell me who, from what IP, and at what time, telnet access was attempted and those reports are automatically forwarded to the administrator of the owner of the IP block! With a nice explanation that all of our authorized users know not to attempt telnet access and only someone attempting illegal access would try that route. So check to see if you belong!

Somwhere port 23 is being blocked more than likely. Telnet uses port 23 for access to a system. If the server is blocking that port you will never connect via telnet.
