I'm 12 years old, and I started my period last November. There was alot of blood that month, as I've heard was unusual, but then I had hardly anything in December, and nothing since. I've already heard that it's okay to miss periods when you first start (right?). How long is it normal to be continuously missing them before I should go to an adult? I need to know the longest span of time, because I have comfortability issues about speaking to my mom about it, and I'm really freaking out! I have never had sexual activity or unsanitary contact. Pleeeeeeeeeeease help! Thanks...

Hi there
I'm 20 years older than you and let me tell you one thing- no woman's body is perfect. Missing period early on is perfectly normal. What you need to be aware of is that it should not go beyond 3 months. If you go beyond this time, you will probably need to see a GYN. You will be given birth control pills. That's right - Birth control pills actually help regulate period and brings you in 30 day cycle.
I know it's probably not my place but mom's are daughter's best friends. You should definately bring this to your mom's attention if you begin to get too worried.
So don't worry- hang in there !

I was the same as you when I was 11/12. My period was very irregular for a year and only after that first year, it started to even out more. I went for 2 months after my first period before I got my second one. And if there has been no sexual contact, then you won't be worrying about being pregnant!
If you feel worried about this though, go to talk to someone other than your mum (if that makes you feel uncomfortable), a female teacher or family friend that you trust.

It's okay to miss it for a long period of time. Don't worry about it. It will come back! You should feel comfortable talking to your mom though. She went through the same thing as you.

Every person is different, I can safely say you might go 6 months without any concern. Your period is caused from hormonal changes and your body just isn't used to all of the changes that you are about to go through just yet. Don't be worried about it, I mean, after all, it's not something to jump for joy about (ha-ha).

you are really young to have already started your period. It is so usual to have it and then not! especially at your age. Don't be suprised if you don't start it for a few more months. It takes your body awhile to get it regulated and on time so just be patient and be happy that you don't have to deal with it!
