i know that pacifiers cause some problems with the developement of their mouths but what is the best one to buy and how long can they use it before it becomes a problem? right now my 3 month old has been using the gumdrops pacifier and i tried to get her to use other ones but she wont take it. I'm afraid prolonged use of this one binky will cause her to have the deformaties. Is this binky ok to use or is there other ones that are better for her.

I just read that pediatricians now approve of pacifier use....regardless of brand....because babies that use pacifiers have a lower incidence of SIDS risk. I would just keep on using the one you are using....and not worry about all that other stuff!! Just start encouraging her to NOT use the pacifier after the 1st birthday!!!

I'm not familiar with the one you are using....I personally use the NUK or Playtex ortho ones. They are specially shaped nipples that are not bad for their orthodontic development. Your baby is still very young. Sucking is a very natural soothing method that most babies need! Mine included. As long as you try and wean her by about 1 year old I think its fine...In fact, I think they are great! Good luck

it's fine to use a pacifier! it helps prevent sids and allows babies to soothe themselves when they wake up at night. my daughter always used and still uses the nuk because the curved end feels better in their mouth. she is 14 months and we are getting rid of the bottle first and then the passy, but its not like she is addicted to it or anything

I LOVE the Soothie brand binkies. They are light green and are soft and pliable. The nipple is shaped like a baby bottle nipple, and the nurse at the hospital told me that they are easier to wean from because they are shaped like that... but we will see. To me it made sense to buy a bink that is shaped like a bottle nipple.. and my baby choked on even the newborn sized nuks, etc.

www.childmed.com, and Target has them.

i agree, Gerber Nuk brand. I think they should start trying to be off of them by 1st birthday too. At least that's what I'm going to try.
