I would be devastated.

If 2+2 was not 4 after learning that 2+2 was 4, I would be confused for a short while, then adjust. It's just a number. I'd deal. I'm basing this on the idea that 2+2=4 would become, for instance, 2+2=5. While the symbolic representation (4 or 5) does change, what is represented (the actual physical amount) does not. 2+2 does not suddenly yield one more of whatever. If it did, I, too, would be devastated and neglect math eternally.

Is the question suggesting that the answer were to change, or had always been this way? If we were raised and taught that 2+2=5, that would be the way it was, and life would go on. Similarly, is the question suggesting a complete overhaul of mathematics, or just 2+2?
I'd buy a new calculator and get over it.

I guess 2 + 2 could become as many as 7, if a couple of humans connected with two extra females. Now, if we're talking about rabbits.......lots 'n' lots of Easter bunnies!

i would feel like everything was a lie. because if 'they' can't get simple math problems right, then how do 'they' ever expect me to function?

'they' = some force in all control

ps. i've always wondered the same thing =]

It wouldn't change anything because two apples added to two apples will always give four apples! Same with fingers, trees, birds, people, etc.!!!

So let's not waste time wondering how we would feel in a totally impossible situation.

I think anything is possible - i try to be open minded about things and live that way. I don't think i would really be bummed - i would find it interesting and question it to see what i believed about it...
