I am having a hard time finding my IP address. It doesnt show up under ipconfig, and when I right click on the Network Connection, the status tab isnt highlighted. Where else can I go to get my IP address. I mean on the computer, not a web site.

If you want your true i.p. address as assigned by your isp you can simply go to http://whatismyip.com

If you want to know your computer's local I.P., and ipconfig and other methods do not work, you need to access your router's status page, which you can do by consulting your router manual and reading about how to connect to the router configuration.

I also think you might have some kind of network configuration error since you are not getting a result with ipconfig. You are typing the command in a command prompt, right?

Hi, Are you using static ip or DHCP? For your case, if the ipconfig does not show any ip. Most likely there is something wrong with the connection. Please check your lan cable again.

To acquire an ip, first you must be connected to the network. If not it will not show anything. This is for DHCP (DHCP means that the server assign a new ip to your system).

For static ip, you just need to go into network connection and click on your local lan connection and select properties and double click on TCP/IP to check your ip.

This'll make it easier for you.

Go to www.belarc.com/free_download.html

This program has been around for years. It provides all your information. It'll give you IP address, Gateway, DHCP service, and Physical address.

Not to mention anything else you need to know about your system.

It will also show you all of your program keys and where your programs are located. (red asterisks behind each program). So if you can't find something just look at the list and click the star.

At th top of the page it will also tell you if you're behind in your security updates, etc. etc.
